Sound familiar?

You've done everything a good coach does for a woman over 40

You've checked her training. You've tightened her food. You've cut another 200 calories and added another walk. And she's still stuck.

So you tell yourself the story every coach tells: it's her age, it's her hormones, it's stress, it's a GP thing. You say "maybe run it past your GP". She comes back with "they said my bloods are normal".

Four weeks later she's quietly looking at Ozempic, or an online coach who sounds a lot more certain than you do. And the client who trusted you most walks out the door.

Here's what's actually going on

Symptoms are signals, not problems

The bloating by mid-afternoon. The 3pm crash. Cold hands. Waking at 3am. Hair in the shower. None of it is random, and none of it is "just menopause". Together it's a pattern, and the pattern tells you what to fix first. Nobody taught you the order. That's the whole gap, and it isn't your fault.

What most coaches do

  • Change the training program again
  • Cut calories further
  • Hand out another macro template
  • Say "run it past your GP"
  • Lose her to a drug or an app

What coaches who read the pattern do

  • Ask five questions most coaches never ask
  • See whether it's gut, blood sugar, thyroid, stress or hormones leading
  • Fix the first domino, so the rest stop falling
  • Write a plan she can follow because it finally makes sense to her
  • Keep the client, and get the result

The order: what to fix first

The five-stage sequence IOH teaches its practitioners: nourish, restore, defend, regulate, optimise. Fix the wrong thing first and nothing moves. Fix the right thing first and the rest follows.

The case we'll work through

Meet the client you already have

A teaching case built from the clients coaches bring to IOH most often. Early fifties, post-menopausal, on HRT. Trains three times a week and hasn't missed one. Her GP says her results are normal. She's been stuck for four months.

What they tell you

Bloated by mid-afternoonTired however much she sleepsAlways coldWaking at 3amJoints ache in the morningHair thinningSugar cravings at nightWeight stuck for four months

By the end you'll know which of these leads, what to do first, and what her plan looks like.

Who this is for, and who it isn't

This is for you if

  • You coach women, and plenty of them are over 40, perimenopausal or post-menopausal
  • At least one of them has stopped getting results and you've thought about referring her out
  • You're tired of guessing and want a method, not another template
  • You'd like to charge for a plan, not just for your hours

This isn't for you if

  • You don't work with clients yet. Come back when you do; you need someone to use this on
  • You want this for your own health only. The free IOH content will serve you better
  • You want a quick meal plan to copy. This is a method, and it takes thought

Your teacher: Jake Carter

Jake started as a personal trainer at 16. He over-trained until he bulged a disc, then tore his shoulder, and found out the hard way he has Gilbert's syndrome when a diet turned his eyes yellow and nobody could tell him why. Every setback pushed him further into the science.

He founded the Institute of Health in 2021 to teach coaches and practitioners the one thing their courses left out: how to read what's going on inside a client, and what to fix first.

What coaches say after working with IOH

Student proof: a personal trainer or coach, named, with their town and handle, on a client they couldn't help before and can now. Real quote or clip only. (supply from IOH)
Student proof: a coach who now sells a nutrition plan or package instead of sessions. (supply from IOH)
Student proof: short clip, phone footage is fine. (supply from IOH)

A note from Jake

If you've got a client who's doing everything right and still not moving, I want you to know it isn't because you're a bad coach. It's because nobody taught you the order.

Ranges don't define health. Training doesn't fix everything. And the right thing at the wrong time is still the wrong thing.

Bring one stuck client to this session in your head. By the end you'll know what to do with her. See you there.

Jake

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The masterclass is free. There's an optional case pack you can add after you register; you don't need it to get value from the session.

Do I need blood tests or lab results?

No. This session works from symptoms and a nutrition plan. Jake will show you where testing fits later, so you know when it's worth it.

Am I allowed to do this as a PT?

Yes, from a wellness perspective. You're not diagnosing anything. Jake covers exactly what a coach can say and do, the signs that mean you refer, and how to work alongside a client's GP.

Will there be a replay?

The masterclass is live. The replay is part of the case pack, for 30 days.

Will you try to sell me something?

At the end Jake will explain IOH's pathway for coaches who want the full qualification. It's there if you want it. The training stands on its own either way.

Is this only about menopause?

The case is a woman in her fifties on HRT, because that's the client coaches bring to IOH most. The method works for any woman who's stopped responding. If you coach mostly men, there's a separate men's health masterclass.

Coach mostly men? Jake runs a separate men's health masterclass on the overweight male client who's asking about TRT. See The Male Client Before TRT Masterclass
